About us

In 1980, two brothers from Weston, Massachusetts - who had spent their childhood vacationing on Hollywood Beach - purchased what is now known as Nick’s Bar & Grill. Unsure at the time what the future would hold, they decided to keep the original name of the establishment. More than four decades later, Nick’s has become a beloved Hollywood Beach staple.

In the early years, Nick's operated with only beer and wine service until obtaining a liquor license in 1984, allowing the business to grow into the full bar and grill locals and visitors enjoy today. From the very beginning, Nick's has remained family-owned and operated. In fact, the restaurant inspired much of the extended family to relocate from New England to South Florida, all contributing to building the community gathering place it is today.

The building itself dates back to the late 1950s or early 1960s. Before becoming Nick's, the location operated as Tom's from 1974 to 1978, a casual beachside hamburger and hot dog stand serving classics like popcorn and cotton candy. Like Nick's founders, Tom's family also hailed from Massachusetts, adding another New England connection to the site's history.

In August 2018, Nick's closed its doors for the first time in nearly 40 years to undergo a major renovation. While much of the landmark building was rebuilt, great care was taken to preserve its original charm and familiar features so longtime guests would still feel right at home.

Today, Nick's Bar & Grill remains proud to serve locals, visitors, and generations of families who return year after year to enjoy good food, cold drinks, and the welcoming atmosphere that has defined Nick's for over 40 years.
